Chapter 4156 — But On What Grounds?

He had originally intended to kill Situ Qian on the spot, but that would alert the enemy. Nan Tianjiguang and those people, along with the Snow Sword Sect, were the real threat. This was something he could not handle with his strength alone; he had to discuss it with Di Xingdao.
"Fine, fine. You have some nerve. We shall see. Sooner or later you will not escape my palm!" Situ Qian flew into a shameful rage, immediately turned, and flung the door open to storm out. Seeing Wei Shenjin approaching in the corridor, she was slightly startled, but did not even bother to call out to him, and simply strode off in a fury.
At this, Wei Zhao merely shrugged indifferently. With Di Xingdao as a powerful umbrella of protection, even if Nan Tianjiguang and the Snow Sword Sect confirmed his identity, there was not much risk. At least these people would never dare come to his door to seize him; he could play along with them at leisure.
Still, that woman Situ Qian was so fantastically despicable that she would use this as leverage to force him into a sordid affair with her. She was truly a rare specimen.
Just as he was at a loss for words, someone suddenly entered through the doorway and, without a word, dropped to his knees with a thud, giving Wei Zhao quite a start.
Looking carefully at the newcomer's features, Wei Zhao was all the more astonished—it was none other than Wei Shenjin, whom he had crippled.
"Wei Zhao, I do not blame you for injuring me. I know that everything came from that vicious, despicable woman Situ Qian stirring up trouble in between, and that is how I ended up in this state today," Wei Shenjin spoke up of his own accord.
"Then there is no need for you to do this, is there? Are you here to take me as your master or what?" Wei Zhao said with a strange look on his face. He even somewhat suspected that this fellow was putting on an act, deliberately scheming to trick him into confessing his identity.
Still, Wei Zhao could also tell that Situ Qian's earlier words about killing Wei Shenjin were no casual fabrication. He had truly sensed killing intent from her in that moment, and at the time he had already perceived that Wei Shenjin was likely just outside the door. There was no reason he would still be cooperating with Situ Qian in a performance.
"No, I am not here to take a master..." Wei Shenjin shook his head, took a deep breath, and said, "I only wish to earnestly beg you to do one thing: help me kill that despicable woman Situ Qian!"
"Kill Situ Qian?" Wei Zhao's eyelid twitched involuntarily. This married couple was truly a pair of oddities, each wanting to kill the other. Truly, enemies are bound to meet.
"I know that with your power and strength, you can absolutely do it. Now there is no one left who can help me—only you..." Wei Shenjin said bitterly.
If there had been any other choice, he would never have come to kneel before Wei Zhao. Even if Situ Qian had stirred up trouble in between, it was still Wei Zhao who had wounded him—that was an indisputable fact.
He was now truly at the end of his rope, with no one left to turn to. No one in the Snow Sword Sect would offend a powerful elder like Situ Guangzong for the sake of a cripple like him. Even Wei Feng, the patron behind him, might not be willing to do such a thing for him.
"I can kill her, but on what grounds?" Wei Zhao narrowed his eyes.
Even though Situ Qian was already on his list of targets to kill, that was an entirely different matter from killing her on Wei Shenjin's behalf. Not to mention that Wei Zhao might not be willing to do the man this favor—at least up to now, he and Wei Shenjin were simply not on the same path, nowhere near the point of conspiring to murder together.
