Chapter 5015 — Heaven's Way Is a Fine Craft!

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 3

"This makes no sense. I fell into dormancy on Cloud-Step Island because there I could not resonate with my source memories, but what is this supposed to be? Could the jade pendant have failed to bring him along?" Jiaoyazi said, puzzled.

"It is possible. Senior Ghost has been in secluded cultivation all along, and I never mentioned the primordial spirit projection to him. I assumed the jade pendant would surely remain with his true body on Cloud-Step Island and that it would not affect him at all. Who would have known the pendant would follow along on its own? Perhaps Senior Ghost really was caught off guard and left behind, which is why only this phantom remains." Wei Zhao stroked his chin, lost in thought.

It was not impossible. To break through the boundary and project, one had to rely on the Spirit Convergence Formation, and with a primordial spirit as absurdly powerful as Gui Dongxi's, the Spirit Convergence Formation would have no effect on him whatsoever. It would have been strange if he really could have come along; being left behind unawares was only natural.

But this was merely Wei Zhao's own conjecture. After all, the pendant's abilities truly exceeded all imagination, and it was just possible that it really had brought Gui Dongxi along. Perhaps Gui Dongxi simply could not withstand the shock and had fallen into dormancy.

"As for how things really stand, once some time has passed, or once you return to Cloud-Step Island, you will know soon enough," Jiaoyazi said.

"Mm, for now that is all we can do." Wei Zhao nodded. Though Gui Dongxi's condition left him somewhat worried, the fact that Jiaoyazi had already recovered proved that this really was the mortal world and that there was still much to be done next.

Only after the primordial spirit body had been fully shaped did Wei Zhao finally feel solid ground beneath his feet once more. True, he too yearned for the ability to fly through the air, but he did not care for this drifting, weightless sensation, where a single gust of wind could carry him off against his will. What kind of flying was that? It was plainly the state of a homeless ghost.

Having shaped the primordial spirit body, and recalling what Nantian Jiguang had said, Wei Zhao's first instinct was to check his current strength. But just then the jade pendant suddenly gave an urgent warning chime. In the distance of the dense forest, two people, one behind the other, were swiftly racing toward this very spot!

"How strange! There is nothing special about this deep mountain forest, yet there is such a great fluctuation of spiritual energy. Could a spirit beast be on the prowl?" The one in the lead was a young man dressed in an outlandish Daoist robe whose sect was impossible to place. Though his features were reasonably handsome, the pair of white eyebrows was utterly at odds with his looks, making for an exceedingly bizarre sight.

"I doubt it. With spiritual energy this thin in the mortal world, where would a spirit beast come from? And even if one existed, after living so long in a place like this it would probably have degenerated to the level of an ordinary wild beast." The man following behind looked far more mature, every inch the elegant, handsome middle-aged uncle.

"Brother Fei, there are exceptions to everything. The mortal world may be a wasteland, but it always has something to offer. Who knows but that some odd corner has given birth to a spirit beast?" the white-browed man said with a smile.

"Brother Sun's words are reasonable enough, but compared with a spirit beast, I think a rare natural treasure is the more likely possibility," the man surnamed Fei speculated.
