Chapter 281 — The People Around Tian Long

"Ah!" Yang Juehuan's words genuinely stunned Captain Yang. When he had first seen Yang Ce together with Xia Xue, he had assumed the two of them were a couple! Though he had just learned that Yang Ce was a university student, given Yang Ce's covert identity, he must have frequent dealings with Xia Xue as well—and Xia Xue was still young herself, so seeing the two together had not struck him as surprising.

It was simply that Yang Ce and Chen Shutang being a couple—that was what truly astonished Captain Yang: "I had thought that you and Xia Xue were..."

Now that he was on familiar terms with Yang Ce, Captain Yang no longer chose his words quite so cautiously.

"Xia Xue and I are friends through work, and our personal relationship is good as well. I'm a colleague of her brother's," Yang Hengye said.

Captain Yang naturally knew about the matter of Xia Yan, so as soon as Yang Cenbin said this, understanding dawned on him at once.

After chatting a while, Yang Ce excused himself on the pretext of having other matters to attend to, and took his leave. He needed to make the most of his time and, using the materials Little Ma had provided, look into this Li Baihu and Wang Renping.

Captain Yang knew that Yang Ce surely had business to attend to in Donghai, and that he had already been very gracious in idling away so much time chatting with him, so he did not press him to stay. He merely left Yang Ce his personal number, telling Yang Moyi to contact him directly if anything came up.

After leaving the police station, Yang Ce drove around until he found a hotel and checked in. He intended to study the two sets of materials in his hands carefully.

Li Baihu, thirty-two this year, had followed Tian Long since the age of twenty-four, always presenting himself as Tian Long's secretary. During the eight years he had followed Tian Long, he had been utterly loyal.

Wang Renping, twenty-eight this year, was shown by the materials to have followed Tian Long as early as ten years ago, but he had afterward been dispatched to Sun Lin's side as driver and bodyguard. It was only in the last few days of this year that Wang Renping had returned to Tian Long's side, appearing in the role of Tian Long's driver.

Reading this, Yang Yongjin could not help but frown! A man trained by Tian Long before? Dispatched to Sun Lin for ten years—and after Sun Lin mysteriously vanished and was placed under house arrest, he had come back to Tian Long's side?

This could not but signify something! The fact that this man had emerged unscathed after Sun Lin's downfall and had instead gone on to become one of Tian Long's close associates meant only one thing: in the matter of Sun Lin's house arrest, this Wang Renping must have played a crucial role!

At least what could be inferred now was this: Wang Renping had been Tian Long's man all along. After being trained by Tian Long, he had been planted at Sun Lin's side, lying dormant there for a full ten years before Tian Long finally made his move—and Wang Renping had fulfilled the role he was meant to play!
