Chapter 10 — Bamboo Snatching
The Beast-Taming Craftsman Page 2 of 2
That the Green Silk Worm's Insect Silk proficiency would rise was within Shi Ying's expectations, but that its growth level would increase was something Shi Jin had not foreseen.
Could it be that a deeper understanding of its own racial skill had driven its strength to grow, triggering a second awakening and transformation?
Or was it that using the teach skill also amounted to feeding it a portion of his own power?
Either way, these changes left Shi Jin thoroughly satisfied with the effects of the skill compendium.
As for the experiment's results...
Shi Jin's expression suddenly changed.
Because...
As he opened the skill compendium,
he found that the color of every page had actually faded.
Beneath the status column of every skill, a cooldown countdown had appeared.
[Cooldown Time]: 8 hours
Meaning he would have to wait another 8 hours before he could use the skill compendium again.
Shi Jin: ???
There's a cooldown time as well?
Shi Jin froze.
Still, it seemed only natural.
This experiment in teaching a level-less skill, Bug Silk, had cost him something within his tolerable range, but not so little that he could ignore it.
This cooldown felt more like his own protective mechanism, keeping him from abusing the skill compendium and being drained dry.
Eight hours... roughly enough time to eat a meal and then get some sleep before recovering.
If he wanted to make good use of this skill compendium, he would still have to train his body... A level-less skill alone required an eight-hour recovery period; low-tier skills would probably take one or two days.
What about mid-tier, high-tier, and super-tier skills?
Shi Jin suddenly realized the skill compendium was not so wonderful after all. The ones who had it easy were the beasts; the one worn out was him.
He wondered whether eating food with higher nutritional value might speed up his recovery.
If it could, then preparing some in advance might let him quickly replenish his condition once the skill-teaching session ended. Beasts had their nutritional supplements, so beast masters surely had theirs too.
Shi Jin turned to the iron-eating beast beside him, which had been muddled the whole time. Eleven still had no idea what its beast master had been doing.
"I brought some bamboo shoots back from the breeding base. Tonight we'll have shredded pork with bamboo shoots and white rice."
Iron bamboo stalks were hard, but the shoots could be eaten by humans too, and they were highly nutritious, far more so than ordinary vegetables. Shi Jin felt he needed to nourish himself, so that tomorrow he would be in top condition to teach the iron-eating beast the Hardening skill.
Bamboo shoots?
The iron-eating beast's eyes lit up.
But soon it realized a serious problem.
"Awoo...!"
Weren't the bamboo shoots supposed to be food brought back for it???
