Chapter 4932 — You're Dead Meat Today

The Blossom Guardian Page 1 of 2

This time it was still the mist-and-shadow version of the Five Elements Killing Aura, but on top of that Wei Zhao had added another attribute: ice.

The five elemental attributes plus the two of mist and ice made a martial technique of seven attributes—unprecedented in history. In other words, apart from the lightning attribute that was currently the strongest within his body, Wei Zhao had successfully fused every other attribute into one. To have come this far in such a short span of time was nothing short of a miracle.

Of course, this was also because he had the Five Elements Killing Aura as his foundation, making it easy to fuse the five elemental attributes together; the mist and ice attributes afterward were merely a step further on that base, and the difficulty had shrunk considerably without his even realizing it. Otherwise, never mind a seven-attribute martial technique—simply working out how to combine a five-attribute martial technique would have been enough to make anyone tear their hair out.

"Hmph, out of tricks so soon, are you? Using the same move a second time—do you take me for a fool?" Zang Zili had yet to notice how these Five Elements Killing Auras differed from before, and was still boasting and mocking Wei Zhao.

Sure enough, this utterly self-unaware, stupid reaction of hers drew another round of merciless scorn from the Alliance Chairman and the other masters of the Kaishan stage.

Everyone present was, at that moment, thinking the same question: how could a woman this foolish possess such towering attainments in the alchemical arts? Could it be that all her intelligence was concentrated in alchemy, and in every other respect she was an out-and-out idiot?

"You really are a fool," Wei Zhao said, voicing what everyone was thinking.

"You—!" Zang Zili was so furious her teeth itched; unfortunately, she was once again surrounded on all sides by hundreds of Five Elements Killing Auras and simply could not free her hands to deal with Wei Zhao. Even if ninety-nine percent of them were powerless mist-and-shadow phantoms, she still had to handle them with care—if the genuine Five Elements Killing Auras seized the chaos to lock onto her vital points, it would be a disaster.

Having learned from the last experience, Zang Zili's response this time seemed far more composed. She first used her specialty, the white fireballs, to blast open a gap in the encirclement, then dodged and maneuvered as she went. It was the clumsiest possible method, yet not necessarily an ineffective one.

Judged on that point alone, the same move used a second time would indeed have its effect greatly diminished—pity Zang Zili had not realized that this time the mist-and-shadow Five Elements Killing Aura was laced with the ice attribute!

Admittedly, any ice-type martial technique used on its own would be completely countered by her white fireballs, with virtually no chance of taking effect. But once the ice attribute was fused into the Five Elements Killing Aura, that absolute disadvantage of being countered no longer existed; instead, the ice attribute could come into play amid her constant maneuvering.

That effect was freezing. Though it could not possibly freeze Zang Zili solid, her speed was visibly slowed a great deal—and that was already enough.

Zang Zili soon grew frantic, struggling to keep up; beset by hundreds of Five Elements Killing Auras harrying and cutting her off, openings large and small cropped up one after another, and the scene was perilous in the extreme.

The crowd in the distance was utterly dumbstruck—an early Xuan Ascension expert was bullying an early Kaishan overlord into this state. Had the script been written wrong?

Boom! Zang Zili's pathetic combat instincts doomed her to be unable to cope with such a predicament. The few substantial Five Elements Killing Auras lurking among the mist-and-shadows finally seized their moment, striking several of her vital points dead-on. Even as an overlord of the Kaishan stage, taking such a blow all at once would leave her gravely wounded!

At the sound, everyone's heart skipped a beat. Even though they had seen the whole thing clearly with their own eyes, they still found it unbelievable to watch Zang Zili blasted into the dust, and the way they looked at Wei Zhao was as though they were looking at a monster. This thing could really press even a Kaishan overlord into the ground—since when had the North Island produced such a heaven-defying figure?!

And yet. There was not the slightest sign of relaxation in Wei Zhao's expression; on the contrary, his brows knitted even tighter in that instant.

Sure enough, a mere instant later, Zang Zili came charging savagely out of the dust, a ferocious glare on her face, her whole body wrapped in a thin layer of white flame, hurling herself at Wei Zhao like a madwoman.

Wei Zhao fell back at lightning speed while shaking his head inwardly. A Kaishan overlord was indeed hard to deal with; even the weakest early Kaishan like Zang Zili, who had no combat awareness whatsoever, was still no small matter.

That last strike had failed to gravely wound Zang Zili. Judging from the fact that she was now completely unscathed and wrapped in a mantle of white flame, one could infer that this thing must have blocked the Five Elements Killing Auras. Weak as Zang Zili was, she still had at least this much of a life-preserving trump card.

Up to this point, Wei Zhao had been suppressing Zang Zili with one trick after another from beginning to end, but from this moment on the situation was suddenly and completely reversed: it was Zang Zili who began a frenzied pursuit, and Wei Zhao who had no choice but to run with her hounding him.

Fortunately, the Super-Limit Butterfly Microstep was fast enough; otherwise it would have been Wei Zhao who suffered badly at this point. Having tested his moves to this stage, the result was already plain to see.

A seven-attribute martial technique was still not enough to deal with Zang Zili; it looked as though only an eight-attribute martial technique had a chance. Unfortunately, the lightning attribute within Wei Zhao's body was simply too powerful now. That certainly brought him enormous benefits, but at the same time it carried no small drawback: it invisibly increased the difficulty of fusing it with the other seven attributes.

Given a month, Wei Zhao's comprehension was sufficient to hammer out the strongest version of an eight-attribute martial technique, and it might well have been more than enough to deal with Zang Zili—but where was he supposed to find that chance now?

Never mind a month; Zang Zili would not grant him even the time it took to burn a stick of incense. To be suppressed in front of so many people by a mere early Xuan Ascension was a humiliation that had long since stripped Zang Zili, a Kaishan overlord, of all face. At this moment she was thoroughly shamed into rage, bent on hacking Wei Zhao to pieces no matter the cost—otherwise the hatred in her heart would never subside!

"Hmph, brat, if you've got any tricks left, then bring them out! What's the matter? Out of tricks again?" Zang Zili sneered viciously as she frantically chased Wei Zhao. "No matter how many tricks you have, no matter how crooked and wicked they are, the absolute gap in strength is right here before you. You're dead meat today, and no one can save you!"

This time Wei Zhao, unusually, made no reply, only burying his head and scurrying everywhere, giving the impression that he truly was at his wit's end as his situation grew ever more perilous.
