Chapter 11642 — This Time, the Zhou Son of Heaven Was Not Merely Posturing

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 3

Hou Chuang made no attempt to conceal it. Only when he saw Wei Baizhan and the others rise to their feet did he hastily add, "I have a way to make the Heavenly Dao send its punishment down upon the Son of Heaven himself. I have come today for one thing only: I wish to join hands with you."

"......"

The whole company wore peculiar expressions.

Wei Zhao said with a laugh, "You stirred up all this commotion just to join hands with me?"

Hou Chuang nodded gravely. "Correct. Your Excellency's strength is formidable indeed, but you now stand at the tip of the spear, at the very eye of the storm. Frankly speaking, the odds of riding out the coming great upheaval on your own are truly not great."

"But if you and I join hands, that is another matter entirely."

"I can control the Zhou Son of Heaven on your behalf, and I also hold a great deal of inside information that you do not know. So long as you and I join hands, we could well command the situation of the entire Inner Royal Court."

"Does Your Excellency not wish to try?"

Wei Zhao looked at him. "Are you finished?"

Hou Chuang froze for a moment, unable to read his attitude for the time being. He narrowed his eyes and said, "I grant that my visit today is somewhat presumptuous, but since ancient times, those who accomplish great things do not scruple over trifles. With Your Excellency's breadth of mind, you will surely understand."

Wei Zhao smiled, and let slip a single, chilly remark: "Did I give you face?"

"Huh?"

Hou Chuang did not react at once.

Wei Zhao snapped his fingers. "Fatty, teach him how he ought to speak to me."

"You got it."

Li Qinghe burst into laughter and strode straight toward Hou Chuang.

Hou Chuang's eyelid twitched, and before he could react, his entire body was already enveloped by that towering, bloated-and-fat frame.

Li Qinghe leaned over him from behind and grinned wickedly. "I love reasoning with people. I hope you'll love it too."

Hou Chuang's hair stood on end, and he instinctively tried to resist and break free.

Yet with his strength, he could not struggle loose in the slightest!

Hou Chuang was utterly stunned.

He was a Venerable of the early Heaven tier, no less!

The band under Wei Zhao's command was certainly mighty and not to be underestimated, but by his judgment, even the strongest among them was at best his own equal.

As an expert who had come out of the Inner Royal Court, he still had that much confidence.

And yet now, facing Li Qinghe, he had no power to resist at all!

Seeing Hou Chuang dragged away by Li Qinghe, Wei Zhao and the others all wore expressions of amusement.

Half an incense-stick's time later, Li Qinghe dragged Hou Chuang back.

By then the Grand Preceptor Hou no longer showed the slightest trace of his earlier arrogance. Though no great injury could be seen on the surface, inside and out he reeked of the wretchedness of one who had been taken in hand.

The crucial thing was that this wretchedness betrayed nothing but helplessness.

Only at this moment did Hou Chuang discover in despair that, to say nothing of facing Wei Zhao, even a single Li Qinghe was a mountain he could not surmount.

Thinking back now on his earlier words, even he himself found his imagined partnership of equals with Wei Zhao utterly ridiculous.

Li Qinghe gave a snort. "Talk nicely to my boss, or it won't be this easy next time."

Hou Chuang nodded silently.

Wei Zhao spoke: "It was you who urged the Zhou Son of Heaven to issue the Edict of Self-Blame, and then you dumped the blame on me?"

Hou Chuang hastened to explain. "No, no. That was merely a smoke screen with which I deceived the Zhou Son of Heaven. The Heavenly Dao cannot be cheated, and I can make him reap the consequences at any time."

Wei Zhao smiled but not quite. "So you have had the Zhou Son of Heaven in the palm of your hand from the very beginning. What is your aim?"
