"Yes, whatever you say, we drink however you say!" Su Taiwei nodded. Red wine? Who was he afraid of?
"Good!" Wei Zhao set down the bottle of red wine but rose to his feet, walked over to the sterilizing cabinet at the side of the private room, and pulled out two oversized draft beer mugs. He placed one in front of Su Taiwei and carried the other back to his own seat.
Su Taiwei was somewhat baffled, unable to fathom what Wei Zhao needed the mugs for. Was he going to pour the wine out and drink from them? You could drink red wine straight from the bottle!
While Su Taiwei, An Liwen, and Su Taizao were still exchanging puzzled looks, Wei Zhao uncorked the bottle of red wine and poured every last drop into the oversized mug before him.
Su Taiwei was about to follow suit when he saw Wei Zhao pick up a can of beer from the table, crack it open, and pour it into the mug as well.
The corner of Su Taiwei's mouth twitched. Mixing red with beer? If it had been an ordinary beer, that would have been one thing, but this was a high-alcohol brew being dumped in... Still, even that had to be better than drinking straight baijiu!
Su Taiwei gritted his teeth. Barely acceptable! So he imitated Wei Zhao, pouring both the red wine and the beer into his own mug. But just as he finished and was about to speak, he saw Wei Zhao move again!
This time, Wei Zhao opened a bottle of baijiu and poured that straight into the mug too!
"Wha--?!" Su Taiwei was dumbstruck. Adding baijiu as well? Red wine, beer, and baijiu all mixed together? That would kill a man! Under normal circumstances, a cup or two would have been perfectly fine. In fact, Su Taiwei often showed off his special talent to wine merchants by drinking red, white, and yellow together, leaving them utterly amazed. At moments like that, Su Taiwei would savor the attention, preen, feel supremely impressive. He took pride in his gift. He boasted of it.
But now, facing this single oversized mug, his celebrated talent had turned into a joke. A small cup was one thing. But downing a whole mug this size? That was practically suicide!
Wei Zhao paid no mind to what Su Taiwei was thinking. He raised his own mug and tilted it in Su Taiwei's direction. "Come on, let's keep going."
"This..." Su Taiwei was so full of regret he was ready to explode. Earlier, he had assumed Wei Zhao only intended to drink red wine, which was why he had made that bold declaration about drinking however Wei Zhao wanted. But now, with Wei Zhao demanding this unholy concoction, whether Su Taiwei liked it or not, he had no way out.
An Liwen and Su Taizao were equally helpless. They could not do a thing to assist Su Taiwei, so all they could do was silently root for him in spirit.
Wei Zhao drained his entire mug of mixed liquor in one go, then watched Su Taiwei with a smile. Su Taiwei had no choice but to steel himself, lift his mug, and glug the whole thing down, the mixture gurgling into his stomach.
Afterward, Su Taiwei's face turned a spectacular mottled red and white, a sight to behold. One hand clutched his stomach while beads of sweat the size of beans popped out across his forehead.
Su Taiwei felt as if he were dying. His stomach seemed on the verge of detonating, churning with monstrous waves that made him feel his entire body was about to collapse. But he could not lose face. Absolutely not!
"Bravo. That's why they call you Wei Ge, Brother Great, truly better than ordinary men!" Wei Zhao nodded approvingly.
"Heh heh..." Su Taiwei wanted to weep but had no tears left. All he could offer Wei Zhao's praise was a helpless, hollow smile. At this moment, he would far rather have been called Shuai Ge, Brother Loser, than Wei Ge, Brother Great...
"Let's keep going. This is the only way it's interesting!" Wei Zhao said, fetching several more bottles of red wine. He placed a few before Su Taiwei and a few before himself.
