As for how Feng Xiaoxiao could know about this in advance, Wei Zhao was not the least bit surprised; she and Zhong Yongliang were always mixed up together, so of course she would know his plans.
It was just that Wei Zhao found it a little odd—why would Feng Xiaoxiao be so kind as to remind him? Could she have some other purpose?
Wei Zhao had no sooner stepped out of the classroom than Feng Xiaoxiao followed on his heels. Sensing someone behind him, Wei Zhao caught Feng Xiaoxiao's figure through the stairwell glass at the corner as he went downstairs.
She had indeed followed him. Wei Zhao smiled faintly. Feng Xiaoxiao would most likely not let yesterday's matter rest; her silence all this time had been nothing but a preparation to erupt at the proper moment.
In the woods behind the school, students who had caught wind of it were already packed in tight, from freshmen all the way up to seniors; even some middle-schoolers who had already been let out for the day had been drawn over.
It seemed word of the fire-tree-and-silver-flowers spectacle Zhong Yongliang meant to put on had long since gotten out, drawing this much attention.
Zhong Yongliang and Gao Xiaofu stood beside a tree hung all over with fireworks and slips of paper. At this moment Zhong Yongliang loathed Shen Yushu beyond words; his backside had nearly been ruined by her needle, and it was still swollen up high.
Could the needle used to inject trees really be jabbed into a person too? Yet however furious Zhong Yongliang was, he still had to keep a smile on his face with Shen Yushu. If he wanted to invite Gu Mengyao to come watch the fire-tree-and-silver-flowers, night-without-end courtship gala, he truly could not do it without Shen Yushu's help.
"Brother Liang, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu are here, and Wei Zhao is following not far behind them," Gao Xiaofu said quietly to Zhong Yongliang.
"I see them. Go bring Gu Mengyao and the others over, and have Wei Zhao and Feng Xiaoxiao come in too while you're at it. I've already arranged with Feng Xiaoxiao how the rest of it will go — we just wait for Wei Zhao to get what's coming to him," Zhong Yongliang instructed in a low voice.
"Right, Brother Liang." Gao Xiaofu nodded, then parted a path through the gathered students: "Everybody move aside, let today's leading lady through."
Within the school, Gao Xiaofu's word still carried a good deal of weight with ordinary students.
"Gu Mengyao, Shen Yushu, Brother Liang is all ready and waiting for you to come over," Gao Xiaofu said, gesturing for them to proceed.
"Let's just watch from here. We won't go over." Gu Mengyao had no wish to get closer; she had not the slightest interest in any fire-tree-and-silver-flowers, night-without-end courtship gala.
"Sister Yaoyao, let's go over. You can't see clearly from here anyway..." Shen Yushu, however, tugged at Gu Mengyao and without another word dragged her along: "I still want to keep giving Zhong Yongliang his IV drip."
"..." Gu Mengyao had no choice; Shen Yushu hauled her over, and she knew her best friend's temperament well enough — the girl simply loved watching a spectacle, and was not doing any of this to help Zhong Yongliang.
Wei Zhao followed along far behind, and Feng Xiaoxiao walked over as well — except this time Feng Xiaoxiao went straight past Wei Zhao and set to bustling about helping Zhong Yongliang.
Wei Zhao was somewhat puzzled by Feng Xiaoxiao's volunteering to help. From what had happened before, although Feng Xiaoxiao and Zhong Yongliang were named together among the school's Four Great Young Devils, Feng Xiaoxiao was the leading one and Zhong Yongliang second to her. Why would Feng Xiaoxiao take the initiative to help Zhong Yongliang with all this?
