Gu Mengyao frowned. This was the thing she found most annoying — Zhong Yongliang was always dreaming up some ridiculous scheme and then actually carrying it out, things like writing a letter in his own blood. It left her speechless. How could this guy be even more of an idiot than Xiaoshu?
And he was a genuine idiot. Xiaoshu only pretended to be one.
As Feng Xiaoxiao walked past Wei Zhao, she put on an air of casualness and hooked the string of firecrackers that had been lying on the ground straight onto his trousers, then, without pausing for even a moment, turned and went off to busy herself with something else.
"Heh..." Wei Zhao smiled faintly. So that was the little girl's game — she wanted to blow him up with firecrackers? She was thinking too much. But Wei Zhao did not call her out on it right away; he pretended not to have noticed and kept his eyes fixed on Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu.
Feng Xiaoxiao's heart was pounding hard, too. Wei Zhao was no ordinary person — what if he noticed? The playground was crowded and noisy now, but Wei Zhao's alertness was nothing to sneeze at either.
Yet after she hung the firecrackers behind Wei Zhao's backside, he showed no particular reaction at all, and she let out a breath of relief, thinking that Wei Zhao had likely put all his attention on Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu and overlooked everything else around him.
Zhong Yongliang was getting ready to light the fireworks in the tree, and Feng Xiaoxiao had quietly slipped to a spot not far behind Wei Zhao with a lighter in hand. In a moment, when Zhong Yongliang set off the fireworks, she would quickly light the firecrackers on Wei Zhao's body...
That way, it would look as though Zhong Yongliang's fireworks had been so fierce that half a string of firecrackers had been blasted over this way. If Wei Zhao wanted to blame anyone, he could only blame heaven and his own bad luck in where he stood — he could not pin it on anyone else.
"Whoosh—" Zhong Yongliang lit the fireworks. These too he had specially ordered from the factory: once they rose into the air, they would form the five characters "Yao Yao, I Love You." They looked simple, but they had cost Zhong Yongliang a hefty sum to have custom-made.
At the same moment, Feng Xiaoxiao used her lighter to set fire to the firecrackers behind Wei Zhao's backside, then turned around triumphantly and started to slip away...
"Heh—" Wei Zhao smiled faintly. In a flash he had untied the firecrackers from himself and hung them behind Feng Xiaoxiao's backside, then tied them off in a dead knot.
The tragedy was that Feng Xiaoxiao was so focused on running far away that she never noticed the firecrackers Wei Zhao had hung on her. Only after a few steps did she feel something dragging behind her, slapping against her legs again and again. Puzzled, she turned her head — and at the sight let out a shriek: "Ah—"
Feng Xiaoxiao was about to go mad! Weren't the firecrackers hung on Wei Zhao? How had they ended up on her? She looked up toward Wei Zhao and saw him giving her a malicious grin and a nod.
Feng Xiaoxiao wanted to untie the firecrackers behind her, but discovered that the wretch Wei Zhao had tied them in a dead knot that simply would not come loose!
Seeing that the fuse was about to burn down, Feng Xiaoxiao panicked in earnest. She could hardly drop her trousers in front of the whole school, could she? How humiliating would that be!
While Feng Xiaoxiao hesitated, the fuse burned out and the firecrackers began to go off with a "crackle-pop." Scared out of her wits, she ran pell-mell toward Zhong Yongliang, shouting as she ran, "Help! Water — is there any water?"
Zhong Yongliang was smugly admiring his handiwork, waiting for the five characters "Yao Yao, I Love You" to appear in the sky and stun the whole crowd, when he suddenly heard Feng Xiaoxiao's cry for help!
