Ah, strength—when all was said and done, it still came down to strength! Failing to finish off Tagan Long left a hidden danger that would always remain. He could only hope the man had been crippled for good, unable to recover.
"Mid Earth-rank, yet able to unleash a seventh-form martial technique?" A flicker of doubt crossed the Third Boss's eyes. "How is that possible?"
"No need to play dumb. This whole thing was your scheme from the start, wasn't it? Don't tell me these guards have nothing to do with you. What I hate most is clever little men like you." Wei Zhao spoke flatly.
"Brat, so you've decided to make an enemy of us?" The Third Boss's face turned grim, and the aura around him swelled by degrees—from utter calm to a surging tide of true qi in an instant, revealing the full cultivation of a peak late Earth-rank expert. "You may be able to unleash a seventh-form martial technique, but against me you're still far too weak. I am a peak late Earth-rank expert of complete mastery, able to unleash a tenth-form martial technique. Cross blows with me, and you die! Tell me where you come from. I don't care what backing you have behind you—today, you owe us an explanation!"
"An explanation? Who do you think you are?" Wei Zhao sneered coldly.
"Even if you were from an ancient sect, this matter could not be let go so easily today!" the Third Boss said frigidly.
"An ancient sect?" Wei Zhao curled his lip.
The Third Boss was taken aback. Seeing Wei Zhao's expression, it seemed he held ancient sects in a certain contempt? His heart sank, and suddenly a possibility came to him—a dreadful possibility. His voice began to tremble. "Could it be... you are from that place?"
"That place? What place?" Wei Zhao was briefly puzzled.
"Phew..." Seeing that Wei Zhao's confusion did not seem feigned, the Third Boss breathed a sigh of relief. So long as he was not from "that place," all was well. The Fire Wolf Gang and the Red Conch, joining hands, might not fear that place—but a mere branch Third Boss like himself could not possibly stand against them!
Wei Zhao frowned and filed away those four words. That place? What place was it, exactly? It seemed very powerful? Seemed even more formidable than the ancient sects?
"No need to fish for information. I belong to no sect and no faction," Wei Zhao said mildly.
"No sect and no faction?" A cold gleam flashed through the Third Boss's eyes. "Good. Very good! No sect and no faction—since you won't talk, then stay here forever, and pay with your life for my brothers!"
"So you finally admit these men are yours?" Wei Zhao regarded the Third Boss with a half-smile.
"A dying man—what does it matter if I admit it?" The Third Boss had already set his mind on killing Wei Zhao. Since Wei Zhao refused to say where he came from, and the surveillance footage here had recorded the whole scene, then even if someone came looking later, he could use the footage to wash his hands clean of it all!
Even if Wei Zhao truly came from that place, if Wei Zhao himself would not admit it, then his death would be in vain. Who told you not to speak?
"Since you've admitted it, then I'll admit it too." Wei Zhao smiled slightly. "Third Boss of the Red Conch, I came here looking for trouble with you in the first place. If you hadn't seized my girlfriend, I wouldn't even have known how to draw you out. But you came running here to die yourself—so you can't blame anyone else!"
"You know who I am?" The Third Boss's brows knitted slightly. He realized he seemed to have gotten one thing wrong. From beginning to end, he had assumed Wei Zhao had come to stand up for Sun Jingyan—but now it appeared otherwise. Wei Zhao had known his identity all along, and had plainly declared that he had come looking for him!
"Naturally." Wei Zhao said mildly, "The renowned Red Conch! You stole my car, so naturally I came looking for you..."
