Chapter 2682 — I Am Wei Zhao

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"What!?" Zhao Qibing froze, struck dumb. He had never imagined that Wei Zhao and Yuning were involved like this. Even when he had kidnapped Yuning, he had not been all that afraid—but now, knowing that she was Wei Zhao's woman, he was genuinely terrified. "Boss Wei Zhao, I didn't know! I had no idea about any of this—ignorance is no crime, surely! Since she's your woman, I'll be on my way. There's nothing more for me here. She's taken an aphrodisiac—in a little while, Boss Wei Zhao, you're going to have the time of your life!"

"You think you can just walk away? Does that seem possible to you?" Wei Zhao asked, watching Zhao Qibing with a smile that was not quite a smile.

"Er... then punish me however you like. Break my legs, go ahead—I'll stand right here without moving and let you do it!" Zhao Qibing said.

"Break your legs? Oh, all right." As he spoke, Wei Zhao's leg suddenly shot out—a kick squarely between Zhao Qibing's legs.

"Bang!"

"Awooo—" With a wretched scream, Zhao Qibing flew backward.

"Wei Zhao... you... where did you kick..." Zhao Qibing was in agony, half dead with pain.

"Your leg, wasn't it? Didn't you tell me to break your leg? I've broken your third one!" Wei Zhao said flatly.

"You..." Zhao Qibing was furious at Wei Zhao's words, yet he dared not show his anger; he could only swallow it down.

"Zhu the Second, stop playing dead. I didn't kick you to death. Get up this instant and haul Zhao Qibing out of here!" Wei Zhao turned to look at Uncle Zhu in the corner of the room and said.

"Ah... yes..." Uncle Zhu clambered tremblingly to his feet, gathered Zhao Qibing up in fearful haste, and edged timidly toward the door. He had not been exposed, so outwardly he was still Zhao Qibing's lackey.

Zhao Qibing was in unbearable pain, but as a cultivator he would not pass out from it. He was filled with regret—if only he had known, he would never have told Wei Zhao to break his leg! Who could have guessed Wei Zhao would break his third leg? His own loose tongue—it was too loose by far, so loose that he had turned himself into a eunuch.

Yet for all his fury, Zhao Qibing dared not show the slightest impropriety on the surface. He feared that one burst of anger from Wei Zhao would break something else of his. Breaking his legs was something he would have welcomed happily—but what if Wei Zhao decided not to break a leg next time?

So Zhao Qibing dared not take that risk. He lay gingerly in Uncle Zhu's arms, feigning death. Uncle Zhu, holding Zhao Qibing, slipped away from the hotel at lightning speed—though as he left, he still thoughtfully pulled the door shut behind him for Wei Zhao.

After Zhao Qibing and Uncle Zhu had gone, Wei Zhao looked at Yuning on the bed, the aphrodisiac now working through her, and his heart was in utter turmoil. He did not know what to do... Should he let nature take its course and accept this turn of events, or should he help Yuning neutralize the drug?

An aphrodisiac concocted by someone of the Medicine King's caliber was still something Wei Zhao could dispel—and that was precisely why he hesitated.

If Wei Zhao could not neutralize the drug, then he could have deceived himself and steeled himself to go through with it. He would have consoled himself: this drug has no antidote; if I do not go to her, it could put Yuning's life in danger.

But as it happened, Wei Zhao's medical skill was superb, and neutralizing this kind of aphrodisiac was no problem at all. That was why he wavered, unable to decide whether to advance or retreat.

Looking at Yuning on the bed, Wei Zhao fell into a daze for a moment, as though he had once again returned to that moonlit Valentine's night—that romantic night he had spent with Yuning in a cave in the wild...
