Chapter 2778 — A Useless Weapon

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"How are you feeling now?" Wei Zhao asked.

"I think... I really do feel much better?" Wang Xinyan suddenly felt hungry. In the past, unless she was starving, she would not eat at all—she would simply choose to sleep instead. "I want something to eat..."

"Ha, good. I'll go get things ready. Tonight we'll have a big feast to celebrate—Yaoyao, Xiaoshu, and Jingjing should be back soon too," Wei Zhao said.

"Ah? So you mean I'm fine now?" Hearing Wei Zhao's words, Wang Xinyan was instantly overjoyed—the trouble that had plagued her for so long was finally resolved. "Then tonight... can you go back to cultivating?"

Looking at Wang Xinyan, Wei Zhao was deeply moved. Not only had she not blamed him for reducing her to this state, but the very first thing she thought of after recovering was still letting him cultivate. Yet Wei Zhao could only shake his head with a bitter smile. "Not yet. You've only recovered temporarily. For me to resume cultivating, the matter of the jade pendant must be resolved first—otherwise things will be just as before."

"Oh..." Wang Xinyan was immediately a little disappointed. Though she had recovered, in the end she still could not be of any help to Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao went off to busy himself with cooking. At school, Gu Mengyao had just taken a call from Qiu Lingshan and was suddenly nursing a headache!

For some time now, Tang Yuqi had been treating Qiu Lingshan to dinner almost every night to learn more about the situation. At first, Qiu Lingshan had attended those dinners with perfect courtesy. But later, even Qiu Lingshan began to grow anxious—this matter could not be dragged out forever, could it?

Moreover, Qiu Lingshan's keen intuition told her that Tang Yuqi already seemed to suspect something. Though the topics he raised over dinner had nothing to do with the Tang family, his casual probing from the sidelines always put Qiu Lingshan on her guard!

Thank goodness she was a police officer with strong counter-surveillance skills. Though Tang Yuqi was a detective, he had gained no advantage. Still, these dinners of wits and nerve were genuinely exhausting for Qiu Lingshan—she just wanted to resolve this matter as soon as possible.

Gu Mengyao was in fact anxious as well, but since Tang's mother had not replied, there was nothing she could do.

Apart from that, however, she had received good news: Wei Zhao had returned safe and sound. He had sent a text telling them to come home after school for a big feast, which delighted Shen Yushu immensely. "Is there shark meat to eat?"

"Shark meat? What shark meat?" Gu Mengyao was already irritable and could not resist giving Shen Yushu a kick. "Who's going to catch you a shark in this freezing weather? Aren't you afraid Wei Zhao will catch a cold? If you want to eat it, go catch one yourself!"

"Fine, isn't there frozen shark meat at the supermarket..." Shen Yushu said aggrievedly.

"Didn't you say frozen meat doesn't taste good?" Gu Mengyao glared at her. "Eat whatever there is and stop making such a fuss!"

"Oh, all right. Sister Yaoyao is getting more and more considerate of Arrow-brand Bro..." Shen Yushu murmured.

"What did you say? Say that again?" Gu Mengyao whipped her head around and glared at Shen Yushu as if she had been stepped on the tail.

"I didn't say anything—I said I'm not eating..." Shen Yushu blinked innocently.

When they got home that evening, Wei Zhao had already laid out a table full of dishes. Han Xiaochao, as always, filled a lunchbox with rice, casually piled some dishes on top, and went back to his villa to eat while reading—a bookworm to this degree was truly unprecedented through the ages.

"Ahhh, there really is shark meat! Arrow-brand Bro is so thoughtful toward Xiaoshu!" Shen Yushu beamed at the sight of the shark meat on the table.
