"This..." Gu Mengyao fell silent for a moment. What she most wanted was for Wei Zhao to help them in the final moment, but now it seemed that would not be possible. If even the Grand Elder could not interfere, then Wei Zhao certainly could not.
Wei Zhao, for his part, only smiled and said nothing. In truth, only Wei Zhao himself knew: others could not, but he absolutely could! For if Tagen Long could, then he certainly could! But none of this could Wei Zhao speak aloud. It was a secret, and Wei Zhao did not wish others to learn of it too soon. Tian Chan knew, but Tian Chan would not gossip; Wei Zhao still trusted her a great deal. As for the Grand Elder, however, there was no trust to speak of whatsoever.
"Yaoyao, it doesn't matter. When the time comes, I'll go along to cheer you on from the sidelines," Wei Zhao said with a smile.
"Mm, that's good then!" Gu Mengyao breathed a sigh of relief. In truth, she had merely felt somewhat unsettled inside; hearing Wei Zhao say this set her mind at ease.

The Grand Elder had been too excited to notice anyone approaching outside, so when the door was kicked open, she was momentarily stunned. Wei Zhao, however, had sensed the arrivals earlier; he simply had not known whether they had come for the Grand Elder or for himself.
