Chapter 210 — Doomsday

The Sword Questions the Heavens Page 4 of 4

Across the whole vast and boundless expanse of the Ten Thousand Wild Mountains, the countless ranges and towering peaks seemed in that one moment to hear that mad roar. The scorched-black peaks that had stood for tens of millions of years gradually caved in amid the savage surge of magma, while the searing magma that burst skyward thrust straight up into the heavens.

At the foot of this fire-wrought doomsday world, at the entrance of the Ancient Cave for Suppressing Demons, Heimu stood dumbfounded and at a loss, while the malevolent spirit Black Tiger laughed like a madman, crying out at the top of his voice: "It's come, it's come, this day has finally come!"

Heimu's eyes went wide, and he shouted in fury: "Have you gone mad?"

Black Tiger roared with laughter, but suddenly he choked, and both men's bodies shook violently at once, and then, there before them, the stone statue of the Witch Goddess Linglong, which had guarded this Ancient Cave for Suppressing Demons for tens of millions of years, shattered in an instant, scattering into countless fragments, which were then swallowed by the onrushing wave of heat and vanished without a trace.

Black Tiger howled at the sky, as one possessed: "My lady, my lady, wait for me, I'm coming..."

And at his feet, the sound of Heimu's breathing, hidden behind the black cloth, grew heavy and violently ragged; all at once he cried aloud: "No, no, I cannot end like this, there is still something I have left undone!"

So saying, he suddenly twisted his body about and, swift as flight, darted out, leaving this place that was about to be destroyed.

Black Tiger, however, seemed not to care in the least that Heimu had gone; his massive frame stood guard there at the mouth of the Ancient Cave for Suppressing Demons, laughing wildly at the heavens.

Very quickly, countless falling rocks and madly flying torrents of magma swallowed up his figure.

The earth itself seemed to tremble; countless beasts and birds of the air were thrown into panic, and that towering peak, amid thunderous roaring and beneath black dust that blotted out the sky and sun, came crashing down!

From the vault of heaven, rain slowly began to fall.

A rain of fire!

Throughout the Ten Thousand Wild Mountains, it fell without cease for three days and three nights.

Tens of millions of years hence, who will still remember that passage of events?
