Chapter 169 — Infiltrating the Chase Family

Years of Heartflutter Page 3 of 3

The earlier designation had already proclaimed the difficulty of this mission—that no one but the King of Assassins could handle it. But the later entrustment was a bit of a joke. This was no children's game; if they failed, they could not simply find another organization.

Once an assassination failed and the target grew wary, a second attempt would be far from easy. So at this moment, old Cha Ce had genuinely developed an interest in the Black Butterfly organization.

Could it be that this Wang Yanqiu really was the heir of that family? Only thus could one reasonably explain how the Black Butterfly organization had come to receive such a difficult assignment.

By the theory of precedence, if the King of Assassins did not take on the mission within a certain period, the client might seek out the Butterfly family, one tier below the King, to take it on—and so it was only natural that the assignment should land in Wang Yanqiu's hands.

But would old Wang let his only daughter take on such a dangerous mission? However he thought about it, old Cha Ce felt something was off. Moreover, old Cha Ce privately doubted that any of his own subordinates were suited to complete this task, and although the Butterfly family was stronger than his own on the whole, completing this mission would likely strain them greatly. Why, then, would they pass it on to his daughter?

Could it be that the mission had actually been completed by the Butterfly family, and they had merely announced to the world that the Black Butterfly organization had done it, in order to make a name for the Black Butterfly organization?

But then what was the point? What use was a name to the Black Butterfly organization? The more old Cha Ce thought, the more confused he became, yet he could not stop thinking about it. After all, who could say what impact such a great upheaval in the assassin world might have on the Cha Ce family?

To be continued.
