Chapter 442 — Remedial Measures

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

Zhong Yongliang wore a face of misery as well. The grand declaration he had so painstakingly planned the day before had ended in nothing but a farce, and it left him with a fire in his gut he couldn't vent. The person who had wrecked it all was Feng Xiaoxiao, and even if he had a grievance, he didn't dare breathe a word of it.

"What exactly happened yesterday? Weren't we supposed to strap the firecrackers to Wei Zhao's backside? How did it end up on Feng Xiaoxiao instead?" Zhong Yongliang had been slapped with a disciplinary warning by Wang Zhifeng. He was no longer the shareholder's nephew — he had become an ordinary self-funded student.

"Who knows? I saw Feng Xiaoxiao sneaking over toward Wei Zhao, but I couldn't make out what happened after that." Gao Xiaofu shook his head.

"Damn it — such a great opportunity wasted. What a shame!" Zhong Yongliang was thoroughly displeased. He clenched his fist, then let it go limply. "We're about to graduate, and who knows if there'll be another chance..." "Brother Liang, even though yesterday's stunt fell apart in the end, your feelings did get across. Gu Mengyao should know how you feel by now. The process doesn't matter — the result is what counts!" Gao Xiaofu reasoned. "Why don't you ask Shen Yushu for a word? See whether Gu Mengyao was actually moved?"

"That could work — it's the only option, really!" Zhong Yongliang nodded.

"Little Liangzi, you wanted to see me?" Shen Yushu showed up for the meeting without the slightest hesitation, because Zhong Yongliang had no designs on her whatsoever — he simply wanted to pump her for information about Gu Mengyao.

"Heh, yes. Little Shu, I'm really sorry about yesterday — it was a disaster. What did Mengyao say afterward?" Zhong Yongliang asked carefully.

"Sister Yao Yao? She didn't say anything, really, but she seemed pretty disappointed — I guess she thought the whole thing was pointless." Shen Yushu blinked, hesitated for a moment, then said.

"Ugh, I know I must have disappointed her yesterday. But did she say anything about a way to make it up?" Zhong Yongliang asked.

"That, I didn't ask. Oh, right—I've been craving the fried mushrooms from the night market!" Shen Yushu stretched. "I'll go buy some fried mushrooms first thing at noon, and I'll ask around for you afterward—though I might just forget." "No, no, let me go buy them. Fried mushrooms, is that all? I'll go!" Zhong Yongliang said hurriedly the moment he heard her words. "Xiaoshu, you just ask her for me what I can do to make amends, that's all."

"All right, then." Shen Yushu nodded and went back to the classroom.

Over the years, Zhong Yongliang had lost count of how many times Shen Yushu had made him do her heavy lifting. But there was nothing he could do about it—who else but Shen Yushu was the person closest to Gu Mengyao? Unless he kept Shen Yushu sweet and happy, there was simply no way to dig up any information about Gu Mengyao.
