Chapter 2446 — The Hero Rescues the Beauty Again

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

The food here was actually quite good—perhaps because everyone was hungry, for they all praised these simple farmhouse dishes without reserve.

Kang Jinglong had wanted to find some topic to chat with Wang Xinyan about, but seeing that everyone was busy eating and barely talking, the atmosphere felt rather dull, and he truly had no idea how to break in.

These past few days, Kang Jinglong had been reading a novel on his phone that Kang Jingming had recommended to him, titled *The Prelude to Faint Light of Old Dreams*. It was said to contain countless secrets for picking up girls and amusing descriptions of ski resort escapades, so he had crammed with it on short notice, hoping to learn a thing or two. The moment he started reading, he was utterly hooked—it really was good, and the material inside was highly practical!

It suddenly occurred to him that the male lead in that book loved to tell his girlfriend jokes, which sent the heroine into fits of laughter and set her heart fluttering. So Kang Jinglong felt that he, too, ought to tell Wang Xinyan a joke.

"I imagine everyone's been feeling pretty glum after that business with the robbers, right? And look at you all, heads down, eating away in silence. How about I tell a few jokes for everyone?" Kang Jinglong said.

"Sure!" Right Panhu, seated not far across from Kang Jinglong, was the first to cheer him on.

"Haha, this joke is actually a brain teaser." Kang Jinglong turned with a smile toward Wang Xinyan. "What is it that comes out of your backside, and yet can still be eaten?"

"Huh?" The students present were struck dumb for a moment. Even Right Panhu's expression froze with a trace of disgust—everyone was eating, so why bring up something that comes out of your backside? Was that not shit?

"Xinyan, do you know?" Kang Jinglong, oblivious to how ill at ease everyone's expressions had become, was wholly fixed on the idea of cheering Wang Xinyan up and had thought nothing further. When it came to matters of the heart, he was an absolute idiot—otherwise he would never have resorted to reading books to learn pickup tricks.

"I... I don't know..." Wang Xinyan, who had been eating with her head down, went stiff at his words, speechless.

"Well, it seems nobody knows, so I'll reveal the answer!" Kang Jinglong said smugly. "The answer is—eggs! Hahahaha, eggs come out of a chicken's backside. How's that, fun, isn't it? Hahaha..."

Wang Xinyan's chopsticks happened to be holding a piece of egg just then. Her hand trembled, and the egg dropped onto the table. Her expression could not have been more bizarre...

"Uh..." Kang Jinglong sensed something was off as well—he had not expected Wang Xinyan to be about to eat a piece of egg right then, and he grew instantly awkward. "Xinyan, this is only a joke, haha... pay it no mind, go on eating... Though eggs come out of a chicken's backside, they have a shell, don't they? There's a saying—'rising unstained from the mud'—that is precisely the principle at work here..."

"Ahem... I'm full..." Wang Xinyan set down her chopsticks, her appetite utterly ruined by Kang Jinglong.

Wei Zhao, however, calmly picked up a piece of egg and put it in his mouth. He cast Kang Jinglong a faint glance. "Done?"

"Uh... done..." Kang Jinglong's heart gave a lurch for no reason. Though he did not believe Wei Zhao would dare do anything to him in public, the flatness of Wei Zhao's tone just now had left Kang Jinglong involuntarily nervous.

"If you're done, then hurry up and eat!" Wei Zhao took a bottle of corn juice and handed it to Wang Xinyan. "Drink some corn juice. You've barely eaten anything..."

"Oh..." Wang Xinyan took the corn juice. Indeed, she had hardly taken a few bites before Kang Jinglong had killed her appetite.
