Chapter 4054 — Wrong Medicine, or No Medicine at All?

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 3

"This place clearly isn't something Wei Zhao could have built on his own. If some hidden master is living here, wouldn't it be reckless for us to just barge in?" Zhong Yongliang said, seizing the opening and falling in with Kang Jingming's line of thinking.

Zhong Yongliang's words changed the color of every face there. If there really was an expert inside, they would have to weigh their options very carefully indeed.

But Kang Jingming only bared his teeth in a savage grin. "Expert my ass. If there was an expert, he'd have come out long ago to back Wei Zhao up. Why would he still be skulking about?"

"That does make sense..." Murong Zhen nodded in agreement, much to Zhong Yongliang's private fury that his attempt to frighten them off had failed.

Just as the lot of them were jumping at shadows, a voice suddenly rang out from deep within the cave: "I thought it was somebody important. Turns out it's you lot. You really are worse than a bad smell that won't go away!"

"Wei Zhao!" Meng Zhou and the others focused their eyes, and seeing that no one followed behind Wei Zhao, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief and sneered, "Or should we call you Lin Er? Every bit the show-off newcomer king, aren't you—you've still got the guts to show yourself at a time like this. Tell us, should we offer you a word of admiration, or a word for your stupidity?"

Wei Zhao was not surprised at being found out; if these people had tracked him here, they had likely already uncovered his identity. He laughed at their words. "I think that line is better saved for yourselves. After all the beatings you've taken before, you still haven't learned your lesson, and you've actually dared to crawl into a cave to corner me. Heh heh, who on earth gave you such courage, such nerve?"

"This is what my nerve looks like!" Before the words had even landed, Meng Zhou opposite gave a cold snort and, without another word, his body suddenly exploded forward. An instant later his legs came howling in with a wind-and-thunder force that seized the heart, laying bare the full power of a mid-Foundation Establishment cultivator.

The kick was meant to land, and it drove straight for Wei Zhao's skull. Meng Zhou, trained in the Thousand Legs, had always been a master of speed, and after taking the Ziwu Heart-Shattering Pill had undergone a complete change of temperament—his speed now far exceeded anything he had shown before, so fast that it fairly gave one the sense of something monstrous and unholy.

Wei Zhao was slightly startled at the sight. He had not expected Meng Zhou's strength to advance so quickly, and against such a sudden and swift Thousand Legs, Form Twenty-Five, even with his current cultivation it would be hard to dodge. In this narrow cave, the room left to him for weaving and turning was far too limited.

If he could not dodge, he had no choice but to meet it head-on—but forcing out a strike in such haste, how could he possibly withstand the ferocious pressure of Thousand Legs, Form Twenty-Five?

In that flurry, Wei Zhao did not advance but retreated, gathering with a single clenched fist a surging, torrential fist intent. Before the Frenzied Fire Fist had even been unleashed, the temperature throughout the cave passage had already shot up sharply, and a suffocating wave of heat came rushing at the face.

Bang! Frenzied Fire Fist, Form Twenty-Five, met Thousand Legs, Form Twenty-Five in an instant. The aftershock of their colliding force sent layer upon layer of sand and stone flying, leaving Murong Zhen and the others behind Meng Zhou all covered in dirt and grime.

In that single exchange, Meng Zhou felt a faint numbness in his leg and was immediately shaken back by the force, while across from him Wei Zhao likewise shuddered under the powerful impact of Thousand Legs, Form Twenty-Five.

The two traded one blow, and neither came out ahead—they were evenly matched!
