Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 265 of 501

"How many bottles, sir?" The waiter nodded to show he had noted the order.

"Start with—" Yang Ce looked up at Xia Xue. He had no idea how much she could handle.

"Bring ten bottles," Xia Xue said.

"Very good." The waiter thought to himself: this girl is fierce—ten bottles in one go.

Before long the waiter brought the beer over, a row of small bottles filling up their table.

"Come on, let's drink." Xia Xue briskly popped open the bottle nearest to her with an opener and raised it.

Yang Hengye smiled, opened a bottle too, and raised it, clinking the top of his bottle against Xia Xue's, then drained it in one go.

Xia Xue drained hers in one gulp as well. Perhaps only the numbness of alcohol could let her forget her troubles for a while.

Yang Ce was a seasoned drinker to begin with, and Xia Xue was no lightweight either; though she could not quite match him, she was still a heroine among women. After five bottles of beer, only a faint flush had risen to her cheeks.

Just then a dance track in the bar ended, and the DJ stood on the main stage, shouting at the top of his voice: "Are you all having a good time?"

The men and women on the dance floor immediately shouted back, "Yeah!"

"Want it to get even wilder?" the DJ went on, his voice hoarse.

"Yeah!" came the unanimous answer from the dance floor again.

"Good," the DJ nodded in satisfaction, then continued bellowing: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Night Dance Bar! I'm your DJ, Agu, and I'm going to bring you endless musical ecstasy! Put down those beers and drinks, get out on the dance floor, and move with me! Are you ready?"

It had to be said, the DJ's tone was highly inflammatory. By now many of the young men and women who had been sitting around the bar had risen to their feet and surged toward the dance floor. A heavy, crashing dance track struck up, and the crowd on the floor started moving along with the lead DJ.

"Yang Ce, let's go down too." Xia Xue had wanted to try it from the start, and now with a little buzz on, and the DJ fanning the flames like that, she began to itch with eagerness.

It just so happened that a great many men and women were surging toward the dance floor right then, so it felt natural enough for Xia Xue to head over with them.

Spurred on by the alcohol, Xia Xue began instinctively to writhe to the rhythm of the music, and many people on the dance floor were just like her—unable to dance, simply flailing wildly—so no one would laugh at her.

Besides, Xia Xue was a beauty, and a beauty's virtues are always magnified without limit, while many of her flaws are automatically overlooked—or even counted as adorable.

The familiar rhythm, the familiar atmosphere—yet at this moment Yang Jiyan felt it all seemed very far away from him. Moving his body rather awkwardly, Yang Ce discovered that he could actually ignore the rhythm of the dance track and perform movements utterly unsuited to it. That, he had to admit, was progress.

Most people, under the rhythm of a dance track, will unconsciously move along with it; few can go against the grain. Even if one deliberately defies the rhythm, in unguarded moments one will inevitably fall back into step with it.

But Yang Ce, as an assassin, had to possess an iron will, impervious to any external influence. Now, even with this dance track playing in Yang Juehuan's ears, Yang Shuoxuan could simply treat it as though he had not heard it at all.

At first Xia Xue was still a little out of her element, but after bouncing around for a bit she found it was no big deal, and so she let herself go and danced boldly.

After finding the rhythm of the track, Yang Ce began to move his limbs in small motions too—though it was not so much dancing as the warm-up routine before a fight.

While Yang Ce watched Xia Xue dance with keen interest, he also kept a wary eye on the space around her. Bars were a mixed bag of all sorts, and Xia Xue was beautiful to begin with—today she was dressed so sexily that even Yang Ce could hardly resist the urge to run a hand over the thigh so tightly wrapped in those little leather pants, let alone the lechers out there.

Sure enough, a fellow who looked quite refined but whose eyes were full of lewdness waited for Xia Xue to let her guard down and tried to move in for a cheap thrill. He searched back and forth for his opening for quite a while, and finally, when Xia Xue raised both hands high, he stretched his lecherous hand toward her chest. Yang Ce had meant to warn her, but one look at Xia Xue's eyes told him she had already sensed this fellow's intent. It seemed Xia Xue's vigilance was indeed keen—as befitted someone with a criminal investigator's background. How could she let these little hoodlums take advantage of her so easily?

Crack—a resounding slap landed across the face of the refined man who had tried to take advantage, and instantly stars burst before his eyes; his lecherous hand involuntarily recoiled to clutch his own cheek.

"You—you son of a bitch, you dare hit me?" Having been slapped by Xia Xue, the refined man flew into a towering rage.

To be continued.

902 You Dare to Molest Her Too (Part 2). Though the slap had been loud, and the refined man's roar had been loud as well, beneath the music of the dance floor it amounted to no more than a drop in the ocean.

"A slap is the least you deserve. You know damn well what you were trying to do just now." Xia Xue glared at the refined man, not the least bit afraid.

"Damn, this girl's got some bite. But that's exactly the kind big brother likes—a woman like that is wild enough once you get her into bed." The lewd intent on the refined man's face was plain for all to see.

"Get lost. If you've got the guts, say that again—see if I don't put you behind bars for a few nights." The moment Xia Xue heard his filthy words, she flew into a rage.

"Behind bars? Haha, don't try to scare me with that. Let me tell you, my own blood brother—the owner of this very bar—has a killing on his record." The refined man laughed wildly, trying to intimidate her.

"A killing?" Xia Xue was taken aback, and the slight buzz of alcohol faded considerably. Her professional instincts told her at once that this might be no simple matter.

"Heh heh, what do you think? Scared now, aren't you?" Seeing the look on Xia Xue's face, the refined man assumed she was frightened, and grew very smug. Smugness inevitably leads a man to do foolish things, and so his lecherous hand began to stir again, creeping toward Xia Xue's crotch.

Xia Xue had already been in a foul mood today, and this fellow kept pushing her to the limit.

Sure enough, just as the refined man was about to reach between Xia Xue's legs, she lashed out with a sudden kick that struck him square in the crotch. With a howl the refined man doubled over, hands clutching his groin, looking for all the world like a certain creature.

Female police officers generally hold hooligans in the deepest contempt, and Xia Xue was no exception. That this fellow dared to lech after a policewoman again and again—he plainly had a death wish.

Yang Ce looked at this gentleman who had been reduced to a limp shrimp and sighed with feeling. You dared to molest Xia Xue, this she-dragon? Just look—the molestation failed, and now he was a cripple of the second degree.

Still, when had Xia Xue ever learned his own secret technique, the kick that ends a bloodline? Only she had not yet mastered it to perfection. If that kick had been his, this refined man would have been like that mole-faced bodyguard—kicked dead on the spot.

And yet Yang Ce also felt rather relieved. Between one person and another, ah, there was always such an enormous gap. He himself had taken no small liberties with Xia Xue—so when had he ever received treatment like this?
