Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

But Yang Ce was not a man two bodyguards could handle. Shu Ya had never once doubted Yang Juehuan's skill, and she actually felt a little sorry for Li Jialiang—this rich young master had clearly never known hardship and had no idea how dangerous the world could be. Yang Ce did not even blink when he killed a man, and here you were, picking a fight with him.
Sure enough, when Yang Ce felt someone pulling at him, he impatiently used his free left hand to slap each of them once, sending both bodyguards reeling. Then he hauled Li Jialiang straight to the window, flipped it open, and shoved half of Li Jialiang's body out.
"Holy shit, what the fuck are you doing?" Li Jialiang cried out in terror.
Yang Ce found it rather amusing—this fellow never forgot his mother, no matter the occasion.
Li Jialiang's two bodyguards heard their master's cries for help and snapped back to their senses at once, pressing forward toward Yang Ce in a few quick strides.
"Stop. Take one more step and I let go, and your young master goes over." Yang Ce pointed a finger at the two bodyguards.
The bodyguards froze in fright. Who could bear the responsibility for that?
"Believe me, if I let go, you'll fall to your death?" Yang Ce turned his head and asked Li Jialiang viciously.
"I—I fucking believe you, all right?" Li Jialiang was on the verge of tears. What kind of man was this, so violent—a fucking lunatic, that's what.
"Since you believe me, then get out." Yang Puqi hauled Li Jialiang back in and shoved him toward the two bodyguards.
They hurriedly caught the young master, and the three of them slunk out of the room. In the corridor, Li Jialiang cursed with the lingering fear still on him: "What kind of fucking man is that? A lunatic, isn't he? I almost went over the edge!"
"Young master, shall we find someone to teach that fellow a lesson?" the two bodyguards said fawningly.
"Teach him a lesson, my ass! This weekend we're going after the eldest daughter of the Huang family. Forget this Shu Ya." Li Jialiang waved a dismissive hand.
To be continued.
875. The Mood of Parting
875. The Mood of Parting "Young master, shall we find someone to teach that fellow a lesson?" the two bodyguards said fawningly. They had been of no use just now, and their young master had nearly been thrown out the window—the two bodyguards still felt quite guilty about it.
"Teach him a lesson, my ass!" Li Jialiang said, still shaken. "Didn't you see the man's a lunatic? With types like that, best to keep well away."
To be honest, Li Jialiang was a thoroughly timid man. He had no shortage of nasty ideas, but he was deeply afraid of dying. Seeing how terrifying Yang Ce was, he naturally had no wish to stir up trouble.
"Oh." The two bodyguards knew Li Jialiang's character well enough. They were only saying it to show their loyalty; even if he had ordered them to go, they would not have wanted to. Who would want to provoke a madman?
"Better we go after the eldest daughter of the Huang family this weekend. That Huang Yan's a beauty too—snagging her wouldn't be bad either." Li Jialiang had forgotten the pain as soon as the wound healed, and a lewd look came over his face at once.
"What the hell is that bird-brained fellow up to? Want me to go finish him off?" Yang Ce grew angry at the thought of Li Jialiang. After Xu Li tactfully withdrew from the room, Yang Ce said in no good humor.
"Heh." Su Ya covered her mouth and laughed. "That won't be necessary. With so many people chasing after me, could you really kill them all?"
"It's not impossible," Yang Puqi said with a smile. "I think you'd better stop being a star. Otherwise, with all these flies buzzing around you, I'll be worried."
"Mm, I've actually been considering that. But quitting the music scene isn't something you can just do on a whim. Sometimes you have to think about how the fans feel—they've supported me so much, and I can't bear to disappoint them too badly." Su Ya sighed.
"I was only talking off the top of my head—I won't interfere with your decisions." Yang Hengye smiled. "By the way, could you change back to how you looked as Su Ya? It feels a little strange seeing you like this."
"Better not. This hotel has too many people, and I'm afraid someone might come by later." Su Ya smiled. "But this way, isn't it nice for you? You can pretend you have two girlfriends—oh, wait, you seem to have more than two."
"Jealous?" Yang Xutang caught the tone in Su Ya's voice and his heart gave a start.
"Of course not," Su Ya said with a smile. "How could I possibly be jealous of them all? I think things are quite good as they are."
"If you hadn't transferred schools back then, the two of us would—" Yang Yongjin could not help but sigh. Perhaps if Su Ya had never transferred, there would have been no Chen Shutang or Lin Yanhe afterward. "I feel very content, being able to meet you again." But Su Ya shook her head. "Yang Ce, do you know? I once thought it would be impossible for me to ever be with you in this lifetime."
"How could that be?" Yang Puqi was taken aback, then smiled. "I'm still in Songjiang. If you really wanted to find me, it shouldn't be difficult."
"That's not what I mean," Su Ya shook her head. "I mean your heart. I was afraid that in your heart, I no longer existed."
"Let's not talk about such heavy things," Yang Ce said, feeling that Su Ya seemed a little more melancholy than usual today. "Is everything all right with you?"
"Nothing's wrong. It's just that we've only just met, and now we have to part again—it leaves me feeling a little uneasy." Su Ya spoke with a touch of sorrow. "I don't know why, but I'm a little afraid—afraid that your feelings for me are only the fervor left over from our youth, and that as time goes on, they'll cool."
Hearing Su Ya's words, Yang Juehuan's heart gave a violent shudder. Yes—what exactly were his feelings for Su Ya? Could it really be, as Su Ya said, nothing more than the fervor of youth?
It had to be something else. Every time he saw Su Ya, his heart stirred—not the fever of infatuation, but love. At that thought, Yang Ce smiled and said, "And what about your feelings for me? Are they that same fever of youth?"
"Of course not," Su Ya denied with utter certainty.
"Then there you have it. What you're thinking is exactly what I'm thinking." Yang Ce gently drew Su Ya into his arms and spoke at her ear.
Su Ya trembled at his words, and then a tender smile surfaced in her eyes. Yes—sometimes care clouds the mind; put yourself in the other's place, and the answer comes easily enough.
Time always runs short for lovers. Yang Ce worried that lingering too long in Su Ya's room would do her no good—today's entertainment reporters got in everywhere.
"When I have time, I'll come to Hong Kong to see you."
"When I'm free, I'll come to Songjiang to find you."
The two of them said their farewells almost in unison. Yang Ce held Su Ya one last time, then turned and strode from her room.
"Leaving already?" Xu Li had long since been waiting out in the corridor.
"Yes. Take good care of Xiao Ya for me." Yang Ce nodded and said to Xu Li.
"Even if you hadn't asked, I'd take care of her," Xu Li said with a smile.
"If any more trash like that shows up, and you and Xiao Ya can't handle it, call me. I'll be there at once," Yang Ce instructed.
"That won't be necessary. We have bodyguards with us—even if you hadn't come just now, I would have called them the moment that happened," Xu Li said.
That night Yang Ce could not sleep. He lay quietly by the hotel window, dwelling on the past. His heart tonight felt just as it had the first time he held Su Ya's hand—too excited to sleep—except that now it carried an added sorrow of parting.
Gazing at the distant skyline, he watched plane after plane, navigation lights blinking, climb slowly into the pitch-black vault of heaven, and wondered whether Su Ya was on one of them.
In the small hours of this morning, Su Ya would be flying away.
