Chapter 141 — Old Buffon's Origins

Years of Heartflutter Page 37 of 106

"If you get vetoed, I'll have to go looking for yet another boyfriend," Sun Jie said, glaring at Yang Puqi.

"What's so bad about that? Just find another one at random," Yang Xu said indifferently.

"Then you go find me one," Sun Jie said. "Easier said than done."

"Or how about we have that Guo Jianchao impersonate me? I'm sure he'd play right into your father's hands," Yang Ce said with a chuckle.

"Fine by me. If you're not worried about something happening between him and me, then go right ahead," Sun Jie said irritably.

"What could happen?" Yang Yanchuan said.

"You tell me," Sun Jie said, slapping the hand Yang Ce had placed on her hip, annoyed. "Just like what you're doing now."

"Then I'm really getting the short end of the stick," Yang Hengye said. "Sun Jie, let me ask you something."

"Ask what?" Sun Jie had reached the parking lot and took out her keys, preparing to drive.

"Let's take my car," Yang Yanzhou said. "Honestly, that sports car of yours really isn't suited for city driving."

Sun Jie thought about it and agreed—after all, going out with Yan meant she didn't need to drive herself. So she put her keys away and got into Yang Juehuan's BMW.

"Sun Jie, besides me, have you ever been with another man like that?" This was a question that had been nagging at Yang Lanxu, one he had long wanted answered.

What happened that time really was strange—truly. Looking back on what Sun Jie had said then, Yang Ce had a vague sense that she had been holding something important back. That line—"I'm clean"—made Yang Ce feel there must be something behind it.

Later, as he spent more time with Sun Jie, Yang Ce gradually discovered that apart from the occasional off-color joke with him, she was always perfectly proper, whether at the company or at social functions. She was nothing like a loose woman.

And besides, if Sun Jie really were that loose, then after one time with him there was no way there wouldn't be a second—of that much he was sure. Yang Ce felt his own prowess in that department was rather formidable, entirely thanks to the side effects of Lan Ling's heart gu. Yet after all this contact with Sun Jie, she had never given any special hints or made any demands, which left Yang Ce quite puzzled. Even if Sun Jie wasn't particularly averse to his teasing, that proved nothing.

Later, Yang Ce happened to recall Sun Jie's P4 player and the movies on it, and a bold notion flashed through Yang Juehuan's mind.

Could it be that Sun Jie was into women? That was why, when Yang Ce asked just now, he had deliberately stressed another "man" rather than simply "someone else."

"Why are you asking that?" Sun Jie clearly didn't want to dwell on it. "It's not as if it was your first time either."

"But I think it was yours," Yang Ce said as he started the car.

"Ha ha," Sun Jie laughed out loud. "That's hilarious. You're chauvinistic to the extreme. You really think that's possible?"

"No, you've got it wrong," Yang Ce said with a shake of his head. "What I mean is her first time with a man—with a man, you understand what I'm saying?"

Sun Jie's expression changed in an instant, though she quickly smoothed it over. Yang Juehuan's powers of observation were far too sharp—how could such a fleeting change escape his eyes?

"What men and women? Yang Ce, what exactly are you trying to say?" Sun Jie had not expected Yang Ce to already be harboring suspicions about her.

"I'm asking you, Sun Jie—are you a lesbian?" Yang Ce said abruptly, watching her with a half-smile.

To be continued.

"Wha—" Sun Jie was badly startled, staring at Yang Ce in a daze.

Seeing that astonished look on Sun Jie's face, Yang Shuoxuan hesitated for a moment—could it be that he had wronged her after all? Yet for some reason, an inexplicable discomfort rose in Yang Juehuan's heart.

He was a thoroughly chauvinistic man, and naturally he did not want Sun Jie to have any other man besides him. So he would rather believe that Sun Jie was a lesbian.

Moreover, lesbians were different from gay men. To Yang Ce, lesbianism seemed easier to accept—he could find a lesbian for a wife, and at worst bring her "other half" into the marriage as well, so that no one lost out. So Yang Juehuan could not help but feel a little tense; his ears pricked up, and from the corner of his eye he watched Sun Jie, waiting for her answer.

But the very next moment, Yang Ce was overjoyed—his heart was practically blooming, for he had suddenly heard a voice.

"How does he know? Could he have noticed something when I was with him?" That was what Sun Jie was thinking at that moment—and unfortunately for her, it happened to reach Yang Ce's ears.

Ha! His unreliable ability—sometimes working, sometimes not—always managed to play an unexpected role at the critical moment. People said the chain always slipped at the crucial moment, but his ability was exactly the opposite.

Now that he had the answer he wanted, there was no need for Yang Shuoxuan to keep asking. A woman of Sun Jie's disposition would never easily speak of such an embarrassing matter to him.

Yang Shuoxuan knew that Sun Jie currently looked down on him somewhat, and that her behavior toward him was only because of that "accident." But that was enough. Yang Ce had never seen Sun Jie treat any man so well before, which only further confirmed that his guess was right. At worst, he would work at it slowly—once he and Sun Jie had progressed further, he could ask her again at his leisure.

Yang Ce's earlier attitude toward Sun Jie could be described as indifferent; he had never harbored any thought of making Sun Jie his own. But now things were different. Yang Minlan would never turn a blind eye to a woman of his own. Of course, the prerequisite was that he had to be the only man in this woman's life.

But Sun Jie was a sly little fox herself. After that brief loss of composure, she regained her usual calm and said in a rather exaggerated tone, "Oh yes, let me tell you—this big sister is bisexual."

Anyone else would surely have been struck dumb by that. She had meant to get her revenge for the earlier jab, waiting to see Yang Ce's astonished expression—yet Yang Juehuan showed not the slightest abnormality. Instead, with a look of dawning understanding, he said, "Is that so? Then Sun Jie, how about one day we have a threesome, or maybe a double fly?"

"..." Sun Jie was speechless. This Yang Ce really had no shame—he would say anything at all. Still, she answered viciously, "Want to play with me? Sure—first go and win my father over."

Sun Jie had meant it as a joke; in her eyes, what her father had asked Yang Ce to do was simply an impossible task.

"All right, but you'll have to ask your other half for her opinion first," Yang Puqi said with a straight face. "Don't let me go through all that trouble to meet your father's demands, only to have her refuse."

"If I agree, she'll agree," Sun Jie said without thinking.

In fact, by saying so, Sun Jie had effectively admitted that she was a lesbian. But the more firmly she said it, the more it sounded like a joke. Had Yang Ce not heard Sun Jie's true thoughts earlier, he might well have thought she was joking right now.

"Where are we going?" Yang Minlan was not very familiar with the roads of Donghai. Though the car had a navigation system, he did not know the destination—having a GPS was useless.

"You haven't eaten this morning, have you?" Sun Jie said. "It's almost noon. Let's find somewhere to eat first."

"That works. What's good to eat in Donghai?" To be honest, on his last trip to Donghai on business, Yang Ce had been in a great hurry and had never had the chance to look around.
